Set in Motion
1 Peter 1:1-2 (NIV)
This was the passage I was to meditate on as I started my quiet time last Jan. 8, 2018. Those words struck me: “…chosen…to be obedient to Jesus Christ.” And because we were starting the year, I ended my quiet time with this prayer: “Father, I don’t know what You have in store for me and my family this year. But whatever it is, help me to obey Your call.” As is always the case, the Lord made a way to test that resolve because that prayer was uttered in the context of what I knew at that point:
1. that my contract with CCF (our home church) was ending on April 15, 2018 with the possibility of being renewed;
2. that God was reviving in my & Lyn’s heart His work in Windsong. (Many are unaware that we closed Windsong last 2014 when I was invited by CCF to Pastor one of their satellite churches.)
March 1 was the day when God’s direction became clear to us as He sovereignly closed the door to CCF and left the door to Windsong open. He affirmed this as He sent our way people who offered their help as we pursue a direction for Windsong that we have never ventured into before. As our season with CCF came to a close last April 15, the beginnings of an upgraded Windsong began last April 16. Why upgraded? The former Windsong was focused on performance and training. The new Windsong will be focusing on online training and mentoring. Training and mentoring – the Lord made sure we have much to share. Online – this will be one of the biggest challenges for us during this transition! For Lyn and me, this will be a very steep learning curve as we have never done this before.
The other BIG challenge was His Word to me last Jan. 8: “chosen…to be obedient to Jesus Christ.” Lyn, my son Jeiel and I decided last April 16 to obey God’s call for us to go back to being music missionaries with Windsong. This entails many changes in the areas of work schedules, family and home-life dynamics, personal time management and even ministry involvement in our home church. Because of this we are currently in a season called “People Discovery.” Believing that God has called us to be His music missionaries, we also believe that God has already called people to support us financially and in prayer, in order to enable us to carry out His work thru Windsong. We are now purposefully engaged in “discovering” those whom God has called to support our family for His kingdom work.
And so in 2018, Fab3 was set in motion towards something new, yet not so new, according to God’s design and call. Exciting. Nerve-wracking. Fulfilling.
“1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2 who have been CHOSEN according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, TO BE OBEDIENT to Jesus Christ…”
